Overview

A beach is a unique landform comprising loose particles, such as sand, gravel, or shells, alongside a body of water. Formed through the constant interaction of waves, tides, and weather patterns, beaches can be found in coastal areas, lakes, and rivers. With their diverse textures, colors, and gradients, beaches support a wide range of ecosystems and are popular destinations for recreation and relaxation. However, the natural forces that shape beaches are becoming increasingly extreme due to climate change, leading to rapid alterations in beach geologies and ecosystems. According to the [[national-oceanic-and-atmospheric-administration|National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration]] (NOAA), beaches are not only vital for coastal protection but also provide habitat for numerous species, including the [[sea-turtle|sea turtle]] and the [[piping-plover|piping plover]].
